![]() ![]() There are a huge number of factors at play in terms of why larger unit sizes are more difficult in Total War games. Note: this option can affect performance and has not been factored into our minimum or recommended specs.” Increasing the size of armies will increase the challenge though, and Creative Assembly says Extreme unit sizes are “only recommended for experienced players. In terms of single-player though, you’re free to put it at whichever setting you’d like. The Gameplay is balanced around the ‘Large’ setting, as well as forming the default for multiplayer. As a result, changing the Unit Size also affects the gameplay. While each unit is defined as a single entity in terms of the over-arching strategy, each individual troop member does battle independently. For example, a unit of infantry on ‘Large’ will typically have 160 individual soldiers, while on ‘Extreme’ this figure jumps to 240 soldiers. In Total War, each unit is comprised of a set number of troops, and shifting Unit Size up or down reduces or increases this figure. Unit Size is a graphics setting in Total War: Three Kingdoms which can also have a profound effect on gameplay. ![]() We've also got our Total War: Three Kingdoms predicted FPS and system requirements to check out, using data from previous Total War benchmarks and the improvements Creative Assembly makes with each outing.Following on from our Total War: Three Kingdoms graphics card performance benchmarks and graphics settings analysis, it's time to hone in one graphics setting in particular - Unit Size. Compare your graphics card to the Total War: Three Kingdoms benchmark chart. Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Total War: Three Kingdoms System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. This shouldn't sacrifice much visual quality while it also should provide a decent boost to frame rates when compared to MSAA. Creative assembly has moved away from the performance-intensive MSAA form of anti-aliasing, using Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) for Three Kingdoms. ![]() Performance-wise, we're actually expecting TW: 3 Kingdoms to excel for a Total War game. Total War is normally very CPU dependent though, so if you're chasing 60fps then a nice, high-clocked multi-core CPU is going to be a must. High frame rates aren't massively important in a game like this though, and a 4GB video card such as the GTX 970, R9 Fury X, or the R9 290X, shouldn't run into too many problems. Interestingly, the recommended specs for TW: Three Kingdoms aren't even targeting 60fps, which is a little controversial. It won't look pretty but it should play well enough, and the tactical element is usually the biggest draw with Total War once the snazzy visuals wear off. A relatively simple Intel UHD Graphics 620 iGPU will suffice to playing at Low/720p. In terms of what we do have though, Total War: Three Kingdoms looks as if it'll be immensely scalable, which should help those who want to wage war on the go. Unfortunately, CA hasn't gone so far as to provide us with 1440p or 4K system specs, although we'd imagine you'll be moving up into RTX 2070/Vega 64 territory for 1440p and RTX 2080/2080 Ti/Radeon VII for 4K. They've covered just about everything from the absolute minimum spec iGPU requirements, up to 1080p/Ultra. GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56Ĭreative Assembly, as ever, has been immensely thorough with the provided system specs for Total War: Three Kingdoms.Total War: Three Kingdoms Utra System Requirements 1080p / Ultra / 60FPS GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 Fury X.Total War: Three Kingdoms Recommended System Requirements 1080p / High / 45-55FPS GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850.CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz or AMD Phenom 8750 Triple-Core 2.4GHz.Total War: Three Kingdoms Minimum System Requirements (Discrete Graphics) 720p / Low / 25-35FPS ![]() Total War: Three Kingdoms Minimum System Requirements (Integrated Graphics) - 720p / Low / 25-35FPS It'll be waging war on your PC come May 23rd, 2019, and here are the PC specs you'll need to play Total War: 3 Kingdoms. Having sidelined into fantasy with Warhammer for a while, Creative Assembly is back to its core philosophy of historical warfare with Total War: Three Kingdoms, a grand depicting of the warring nations of Ancient China. ![]()
